Pre-launch · Finsbury Park
Ultimate at Finsbury Park.
A new youth ultimate club starting in North London, for anyone aged 8 to 20. Whether you've played before or have never heard of the sport, come and join us.
What is ultimate?
A fast-paced, non-contact team sport played with a flying disc. It's self-refereed, which means players make their own calls on the pitch, and the whole sport is built on something called Spirit of the Game: fair play, respect, and integrity. You don't need any experience or kit to start, just turn up.
Non-contact and beginner-friendly.
Easy to pick up, hard to put down.
Self-refereed.
Players make their own calls. The sport runs on trust.
Played everywhere.
Parks, beaches, indoor courts, all year round.
Anyone aged 8 to 20.
The club is open to any young person between 8 and 20, whatever their background, ability, or experience. You don't need to have thrown a disc before.
Boys and girls play together.
Ultimate is a mixed sport by default. At training, your child will play alongside everyone else their age. As they get older and start competing, the sport offers boys', girls', and mixed teams, and we'll build those in line with what players want.
All abilities, all experience levels.
Total beginners are welcome. So are kids who've played before. We'll meet your child where they are.
Coaches who know what they're doing.
Trained, qualified, and DBS-checked. Safeguarding is being set up with UK Ultimate before we run a single session.
Where we're heading.
The goal is to build a team for every age group, training all abilities together, with the chance to compete for those who want to and the freedom to just enjoy the sport for those who don't. We'll be based in Finsbury Park.
The first step is community building: a space where anyone can come, learn to throw, and start their journey in the sport. Come the new academic year, we'll look to formalise teams by age group.
That's why we're collecting interest now: so we know who's out there, what ages, and how to shape the first sessions around the young people who actually turn up.
How to get stuck in.
There are lots of ways to be part of this, whether or not you've got a kid who wants to play.
Players.
Young people aged 8 to 20 who want to play. No experience needed.
Coaches.
Whether you've coached before or you've just played a lot, we'd love to hear from you.
Volunteers and organisers.
Helping run sessions, sort logistics, build the club behind the scenes.
Schools and youth groups.
If you'd like coaching brought to your pupils, or somewhere to send them to play, get in touch.
Supporters and sponsors.
Backing the club with funding, equipment, or a venue.
Our ethos.
Inclusion.
Whatever your background, ability, or experience. The kid who'll never miss a session and the one who'll be national champion both belong here.
Ownership.
The game trusts players to make their own calls; we coach the same way. Young people here shape how they train, how they play, and how the club grows.
Fun.
This is the point. Sessions should be the best part of someone's week.
Competition.
When players want to compete, we'll back them. We'll enter tournaments and build teams across the divisions.
Lifelong.
Ultimate gives you friends in every city, pickup games in parks, tournaments on beaches, leagues through the winter. Not every achievement is a medal.

Hi, I'm Tommy.
I'm Tommy. I've spent years in the ultimate community, as a player, a coach, and someone who likes building things that last.
I chair Curve Ultimate, and I've been supporting coaching in schools. I've seen what the sport can give a young person when they pick it up early: friends, confidence, and a place to belong.
I want Finsbury Park to have its own youth ultimate club. The goal is to train out of the athletics track, with the venue arrangement still to be confirmed. I'm working with UK Ultimate on the safeguarding side, and I'd love your help building the rest.
— Tommy
